Parenting Workshops Offer Practical Advice

Through the recently launched Peace Model Project, the Caldwell-West Caldwell School District and The Bridge presented a three-part workshop, “Positive Parenting Strategies that Work!”, during October. One of The Peace Model Project’s major goals is to foster resiliency and wellness and to provide relevant and helpful prevention education to children and their families.
Tom Palermo, a highly acclaimed speaker, writer and Positive Parenting Coach, led the sessions. Topics included “Why Kids Do What They Do & the 15 Minute Miracle!”, “Stop The Yelling and Gain Cooperation,” and “Changing Bad Behaviors for Good Ones & Ending Tantrums.” Palermo has authored Parenting….The Manual Your Child Should Have Come With and Jumping in Puddles: A Guide to Positive Parenting.
“Tom Palermo is an amazing teacher and story-teller,” commented Project Director Mary Cunningham . He helps us understand how children think and how they are motivated.  Often, we view children’s behavior through the lens of adulthood. Tom Palermo helps us get down on the floor with our kids and learn how to connect with them in ways that are meaningful, while also yielding concrete behavioral change.”
